Meta Freezes AI Division Recruitment

(MENAFN) Meta has implemented an indefinite hiring freeze across its artificial intelligence division after aggressively recruiting more than 50 AI specialists from leading tech firms, including OpenAI, Google, and Apple, according to a report by media.

The pause in hiring, which began last week, also blocks internal transfers within Meta’s AI units. The freeze can only be lifted by the company’s chief AI officer, Alexandr Wang, officials confirmed.

Recruitment for the AI division had been personally supervised by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, with some candidates reportedly receiving offers exceeding $100 million in annual compensation, media stated.

Meta has split its AI division into four distinct teams as part of a broader internal restructuring. Most of the newly acquired talent has joined the “TBD Lab,” which is focused on building superintelligent systems. Other teams are dedicated to AI product development, infrastructure, and long-term innovation.

The move signals a shift from aggressive expansion to consolidation as Meta positions itself in the escalating race for AI dominance.
