Afghanistan’s Taliban Announces Five-Year Strategy
(MENAFN) The Afghan interim government introduced a comprehensive five-year “Development Strategy” on Tuesday, aiming to generate employment and encourage equitable progress throughout the country, according to a senior official.
Taliban's chief spokesperson, Zabihullah Mujahid, stated that the newly introduced plan is centered around "three core pillars," which include effective governance, international engagement, and public security and stability.
"It encompasses ten sectors: economy and agriculture; natural resources and energy, housing and social cohesion; transport and communications; education (both religious and contemporary) and cultural affairs; health; social protection; and environmental conservation," he said.
This initiative marks the first time since reclaiming control four years ago that the Taliban, officially recognized as the Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan, has presented an extended vision for rebuilding the conflict-ridden country.
Mujahid also highlighted 15 high-priority initiatives.
These range from enforcing Sharia law and ensuring "Islamic justice" to improving governance, increasing transparency, strengthening cooperation with neighboring countries, and enhancing security along borders.
Additional goals focus on the advancement of agriculture, expanding access to energy, upgrading healthcare services, improving education, and developing transport and telecommunication infrastructure.
"I assure all citizens that the implementation of this long-term strategy will produce improved outcomes, and that the measures necessary to achieve the core objectives will be executed progressively within a well-structured and orderly framework," he stated.
